Our Services

In-Person

In-Person (Live Instruction) is for those who prefer a classroom setting. Class sizes are small and well-spaced. These classes are offered two Saturdays per month and one weekday per month from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm. A 25-question test begins at 3:30 pm. You’re allotted an hour for testing and will need a passing score of 70%. Taking our course, whether in-person or online, will result in a confidential conviction/masking of your point.  After completing this class, you will receive your certificate of completion.

We also provide ASL interpreters for hearing impaired students. However, we currently only offer this service in our Carpinteria location, and require at least three week’s notice in advance of a scheduled class.

Online

Sitting in the comfort of home taking our online course may be a better fit for you. We upload our lessons onto the website so you can easily complete them at your convenience. The course is not timed, nor do you have to complete it in one sitting. Once completed, you will then be able to download your completion certificate. We will electronically notify your court and the DMV within 24-72 hours of you completing the course. The cost is $35.

This instructional course has been referred to as a “read-y” meaning you will need to read through the lessons and take the short quizzes at the end of each chapter. You do not have to read every single word. As a matter of fact, you probably know half the information since you’re not a new driver. The 25-question final exam is open book. Be sure to use the provided DMV Handbook as well as reference the course lessons during the exam.

If you need help, reach out; we are here to help. But we think you’ll do just fine even if this is your very first ticket, or you haven’t taken a test in 30 years. You don’t have to achieve Class Valedictorian or Magna Cum Laude status. Just get that 70% (of the 25 questions you only need to get 18 right to pass) and be on your way. For all you high achievers, go for it!

Home Study

Cross Road Ventura Traffic School does not currently offer Home Study. Home Study is a course program that is sent to the user’s home to be read and completed at leisure. This home program also includes testing. Once completed, the coursework/test is mailed back to the issuing school, is graded, and after successful completion, a Completion Certificate is mailed to the student. The court will be notified upon successful completion of the program.

Frequently Asked Questions

I THOUGHT I PAID FOR TRAFFIC SCHOOL.

Do not attend traffic school unless you are eligible and have paid your fine and nonrefundable traffic school fees to the Court.

Once you have paid your fine and nonrefundable traffic school fees, you will have six weeks to attend an approved traffic school. If there are any correctable violations on your citation, the corrections must be received along with your fine and fees before permission to attend traffic school will be granted. Traffic schools will charge an additional fee to enroll. You must complete traffic school on or before the due date that you will receive when you pay your traffic school fee to the court. If you pay your traffic school fees by mail, you will receive a second notice that includes the date by which you must complete traffic school. If you pay via our web site, your due date will be reflected on the screen as soon as your payment is processed. (Superior Court of California, Ventura County, 2022)

CAN I TAKE THE ONLINE COURSE IN CASE I AM UNABLE TO ATTEND THE IN-PERSON CLASS?

Yes, you can switch to the online course if you are unable to take the “In-Person” class. Contact us at (805) 833-0041 so that we may make any needed changes.

HOW MUCH DOES CLASSROOM/LIVE INSTRUCTION COST?

Classes are offered one to two Saturdays per month at our Ventura location. The cost is $55. At our Carpinteria location classes are offered one weekday per month. The cost is $75. At our Santa Maria location classes are offered one Saturday per month. The cost is $95. Payment is due the day you come to class.

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE FOR ATTENDING TRAFFIC SCHOOL?

Your due date will be shown on your court paperwork. If allowed, you can also request an extension. Contact your court for more information.

For Ventura Superior Court call (805) 289-8545; for Santa Barbara Figueroa Division call (805) 568-3959; for Santa Maria Miller Division call (805) 346-7550; for Lompoc Division call (805) 737-5390 or 737-7789 and for Los Angeles County Superior Court call (213) 633-6300.

HOW MANY TIMES CAN I ATTEND TRAFFIC SCHOOL?

California Vehicle Code Section 1808.7 mandates that only one citation in an eighteen (18) month period be masked from public view on your driving record.

WILL I HAVE TO CONTACT THE COURTS ONCE I COMPLETE THE COURSE?

Once you complete the course and pass the exam, we will electronically notify the DMV and your County Court of your completion. However, if you have any special circumstances that require you to return to your court upon completion, then you must do so.

WHAT IF I DON'T PASS THE TEST?

If you do not pass the first test, then a second test will be offered that same day. If you do not pass the second test….Well, let’s think positively; you should have no problem passing the tests. They’re open book. But, on that rare occasion that the second test is not passed, you can either repeat the course with us, OR another school of your choosing. Trafficschoollist.com provides a good list of approved traffic schools to choose from.

I HAVE A COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE. WHAT MUST I DO?

If you have a commercial driver’s license, you must call the DMV at (916) 657-6452 (choose opt 3 at the first prompt, and again at the second prompt) after completing the traffic school course. The best time to make this call is about a week after completing the course. Sometimes, it takes the court time to input traffic ticket information into the system.

Tickets/Violations will remain on your driver record IF you have a commercial license. Taking traffic school will ONLY have your “1-point” violation reduced to a “zero (0)”. HOWEVER, because the ticket/violation will remain on your driving record your insurance carrier can still see the ticket/violation. Hence, your insurance may be adversely affected. This often misunderstood situation is the result of Assembly Bill 1888.
